The project aims to protect the wild stock of giant clams from illegal harvesting and collection. Aside from engaging communities in law enforcement activities within the municipal waters, fishers also initiated giant clams seeding in the marine protected areas (MPA). The giant clam stocks are collected from the wild and transferred to community-managed MPAs. Approximately 150 clams are now managed by communities in their MPAS.
The project was supported by the grant from PACKARD, MISEREOR and NEDA IV-B. To know more about this project, please e-mail email@example.com.
